We’re a German and a South African who have spent over a decade working internationally—as designers, teachers, agricultural consultants, and hospitality managers. Our paths crossed many years ago in Asia, a place that not only brought us together but also introduced us to the amazing health traditions and vibrant diets of various cultures.

What truly inspired us was the generational wisdom behind the local herbs, roots, and especially mushrooms—their powerful role in traditional medicine and cooking. This sparked a deep curiosity and drove us to study these natural gifts more closely. More than 15 years later, that passion led us to create Oniiko, a brand dedicated to celebrating and sharing this incredible knowledge.
